President Doctoral Gown Price range from $506-797.
3 month lead time required. A prestigious robe for the college president or head administrator. Choose a matching velvet tam with metallic tassel and a hood with corded piping outlining the velvet to complete this distinguished regalia. It is traditional for the president to wear the colors of the school where he/she presides, rather than the school conferring the original degree earned. The academic code does not bind the college president to any particular colors, and all are entitled to a doctoral hood, whether or not a doctorate was earned.
- Choice of 7 fabrics in an assortment of colors. Velvet can be chosen from any appropriate academic color.
- Lined bell sleeves in the doctoral gown tradition
- FOUR velvet chevrons on each sleeve in your color, outlined with corded piping
- Open full-length velvet panels in your color, trimmed with corded piping

The style names of these Doctoral robes have no academic significance and are just a designation for style types offered by our suppliers.
All prices are in U.S funds, and do not include
shipping charges. Our order form linked by each product provides shipping details.
More about fabrics: Academic Regalia is made only on a custom basis, to fulfill the exact details of your degree and measurements. Custom work requires 6-10 weeks, depending on the season.
Although we do provide 2 natural fiber fabrics, we recommend polyester fabrics for their wrinkle resistance, durability and the ability to be spot-cleaned. Technically, polyester is machine-washable, but the special linings, velvets and trims of Academic Regalia require dry-cleaning. For a more detailed description of our fabric choices, please see Regalia 101 (bottom of the page)
Fabrics, starting with the most costly:
- Peachskin is a a lustrous, soft polyester fabric offered only in Bentley & Simon robes. Picture the downy feel of a peach and you've got Peachskin.
- Tropical Wool is a special Dacron/Wool blend for those lovers of non-polyester/natural fibers. Bentley & Simon exclusively.
- Tissue Faille is my favorite in that it is light, cool, but withstands years of use. The sheen, and the way it drapes is similar to silk. An outstanding fabric, Tissue Faille is sometimes called Wesley.
- Pavillion fabric is a stately horizontal patterned polyester.
- Dalton Crepe drapes beautifully and is wrinkle and stain resistant, though heavier than the fabrics above. This 2-way texturized polyester allows for "breathing".
- Venture is a flat finish woven polyester fabric. It is exceptional in stain and wrinkle resistance.
- Aristocrepe (acetate) is still available but we don't recommend it except to match an existing acetate garment. Polyesters have replaced the old acetate standard, which was memorable for its tendency to shred and fade or change color entirely.
- Regency Poplin is a tough Fortrel/Cotton blend. The heaviness and stiffness of the fabric makes this a primarily economical choice, lacking in good draping qualities. Technically, cotton breathes, but in this combination and thickness, it is not a good choice if coolness is your primary consideration.
If you've narrowed your choices of fabric and need to see a sample, we would be happy to send it to you with a minimal deposit (refunded when fabrics are returned), but many times orders are placed based just on the fabric descriptions, since color is not usually an option.
